How to Play LINKWORD

WHAT IS LINKWORD?

LINKWORD is a free daily word game where you find a hidden link word that connects two given words into compound words. A new puzzle is released every day at midnight.

THE RULES

1. You are shown two anchor words — one on the left, one on the right — with a hidden link word in between.
2. The link word forms a valid compound word with the left anchor (e.g. FOOT + BALL) and another compound word with the right anchor (e.g. BALL + PARK).
3. You have 5 guesses to find the link word. Each guess must be a real English word.
4. After wrong guesses, letters of the answer are revealed from the outer edges inward to help you narrow it down.
5. The link word is always between 5 and 7 letters long. The number of letter tiles tells you the exact length.

When you guess wrong, letters of the answer are progressively revealed. The reveal starts from the last letter, then the first, and alternates inward. Longer words get hints sooner:

HARD MODE

For an extra challenge, toggle hard mode before starting a puzzle. In hard mode, the word length is hidden and no letters are revealed as you guess — you're completely on your own. Your share result will show “Hard Mode” so others know you solved it the hard way.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS

• Think of compound words that use each anchor word. What words commonly follow the left word? What words commonly precede the right word?
• Use the letter count — if you see 5 tiles, only 5-letter words will be accepted.
• Pay attention to revealed letters. They appear at the edges first, which often makes the word click into place.
• Don't waste guesses on words you're unsure about. Think before you type — you only have 5 attempts.
