About LINKWORD

The daily compound word puzzle

WHAT IS LINKWORD?

LINKWORD is a free daily word puzzle that challenges you to find a hidden link word connecting two given words into compound words. Each day at midnight, a new puzzle is released for everyone to solve. The game is designed to be a quick, satisfying brain teaser you can play in under three minutes.

HOW IT WORKS

You're shown two anchor words with a gap between them. Your job is to find the word that fills the gap, forming a valid compound word on each side. For example:

GREEN + ??? + WORK

The answer is HOUSE because GREENHOUSE and HOUSEWORK are both compound words.

You have 5 guesses. After wrong answers, letters of the link word are gradually revealed from the edges inward, giving you clues to narrow down the answer. For full rules, see the how to play guide.

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT?

  • Compound word mechanics — Unlike letter-guessing games, LINKWORD tests your knowledge of how words combine. The “aha” moment when the link word clicks into place is uniquely satisfying.
  • Adaptive difficulty — The hint system scales with word length. Longer link words (7+ letters) get hints earlier, while shorter ones (5 letters) make you work harder before revealing clues.
  • Hard mode — For experienced players, hard mode hides the word length and removes all letter hints. Just you and the two anchor words.
  • Fast sessions — Most puzzles are solved in under 3 minutes, making it easy to fit into your morning routine.

DAILY STREAKS & SHARING

Play every day to build your streak. Hit milestones at 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, and beyond. After completing a puzzle, share your spoiler-free result with friends — your score is shown as emoji tiles so the answer is never revealed. Everyone plays the same puzzle each day, so you can compare results without spoiling the fun.

PRIVACY

LINKWORD stores your game progress and statistics locally on your device. No account is required to play. Anonymous usage analytics help improve the game, but no personal data is collected or shared.
